Young LeadersFrom September to December each year, Valley’s nonprofit partner, Posse conducts the Dynamic Assessment Process (DAP), a unique evaluation method designed to identify young leaders who might be missed by traditional admissions criteria but who can excel at selective colleges and universities.

Using nontraditional forums to evaluate potential, DAP offers students an opportunity to demonstrate their intrinsic leadership abilities, their skill at working in a team setting, and their motivation and desire to succeed.

Earlier this year, Valley became a career partner with the Posse Foundation through an introduction from Brian Roh, supervising senior credit underwriter. By becoming a Posse career partner, Valley Bank is joining a powerful network of over 175 industry-leading companies that are providing critical career opportunities for tomorrow’s leaders. Posse now recruits Scholars in 10 major cities and boasts 57 incredible college and university partners. To date, Posse partner institutions of higher education have provided an astounding $1.2 billion in scholarships to Posse Scholars.

With 200 partners, the Career Program is a powerful way for industry-leading companies and organizations to make a significant contribution to the development of tomorrow’s leaders.

The Posse Career Program offers the following statistics:

  • Trailblazing in their families — 57% of Posse students are first-generation college students

  • 63% of Posse’s scholars receive Pell grants (designated for Low-income Students)

  • 93% of Posse’s scholars are considered diverse minorities

This past summer internship class at Valley Bank included a Posse Scholar. These internships, which typically include access to mentors and senior leadership, are essential to Scholars’ professional development.

A career partnership between Valley Bank and The Posse Foundation represents a powerful collaboration between two organizations that are committed to workforce leadership and diversity. By developing such a relationship, the Bank will play an instrumental role in the training and development of the leaders of tomorrow.
