Valley Bank Announces Spring Student Athlete Winners of the Valley Money Play

Eight Nassau County High School Spring Sports Student Athletes Recognized

WAYNE, N.J. (July 25, 2019) –  Valley Bank today announced eight winners of the Section III spring sports “Valley Money Play,” award that recognizes high school student athletes throughout Nassau County in Long Island.  The bank is a Gold Sponsor of the Section VIII Championship Games run by New York State’s Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA).   
The Valley Money Play recognizes student athletes of Nassau County not only for their athletic accomplishments but also for their passion for personal and team excellence and helping others. The winners all demonstrated outstanding sportsmanship and compassion for their fellow athletes.
“These nominations reminded us how being active in high school sports teaches our young people important life skills,” said Patrick Pizzarelli, Executive Director of Section VIII Athletics. “Through their participation, the students develop character, compassion, a commitment to excellence and a dedication to their teammates and their communities.”  
The Valley Money Play winners were chosen by the Athletic Council of the NYSPHSAA from nominations submitted throughout the spring sport season by Section VIII Athletic Directors and Coaches.  Each winner received a $100 gift card and certificate of excellence from Valley. The spring Valley Money Play winners are:

  • Dino Dervovic, South Side High School  - Rockville Centre Union Free School District – Boys Varsity Tennis

  • Caitlin Colbert, North Shore High School – Girls Lacrosse

  • Patrick Mulvey, Baldwin High School – Boys Track & Field

  • De Anna Martin, Valley Stream South High School – Girls Track & Field

  • Katie-Ann Fu, Great Neck South High School – Badminton

  • Nicolette Manzaella, Baldwin High School – Girls Softball

  • Lauren Guo, Jericho High School – Golf

  • Bryan Morgenthaler, East Rockaway High School - Baseball

The New York State Public High School Athletic Association Inc. is a non-profit, voluntary, educational service organization composed on public, parochial, and private schools dedicated to providing equitable and safe competition for the students of its member schools.  The organization conducts 32 championship events and governs the rules and regulations of high school athletics in New York State.  Membership is open to secondary schools providing interschool athletic activities for boys and girls in grades 7-12. Section VIII encompasses all high schools in Nassau County, Long Island.
