Valley Celebrates over 26 years of Building Change in Paterson

Group shotWAYNE, N.J. (May 29, 2019) - Valley joined other corporate sponsors, volunteers, Paterson Habitat Board and community members in celebrating Barbara Dunn’s 26 years of serving as the Executive Director of the Paterson Habitat for Humanity in Paterson, New Jersey.

In its 30 plus years, this urban affiliate has built over 300 homes for hard working families and is continuing its goal of transforming neighborhoods through homeownership. Under Barbara’s leadership, Paterson Habitat earned and managed Neighborhood Stabilization funds, helped its First Ward families after Hurricane Irene devasted the North Ward through “A Brush with Kindness” emergency repairs and advanced a North Ward Neighborhood Revitalization plan with community-based solutions.

In 2018 the Paterson Habitat launched a new campaign, Hamilton 7 and Beyond, to raise $2.5 million towards reaching the goal of 75 homes built in a 12-block area of the 4th. Owning a home is an important step toward financial security and a dream for many families. Homeownership improves educational and health outcomes for children. A home is more than a place to live — it is also an investment in the long-term prosperity of our communities. Valley congratulates Barbara for her service at Paterson Habitat, the City of Paterson and for Habitat families everywhere.
