Linda Diaz chats with us about her current position at the bank and how she got there.
Q: Describe your career path to your current position at Valley.
A: Following 15 years as a training and development manager for an investment bank, I made the decision to change careers and pursue a revenue generating position in financial services. I moved on to my first retail banking position where I managed investments, deposits and loans for the mass affluent demographic of my territory. My position was moving more towards branch management which is not where my strengths lie. While looking for something new, I came across an open position at Valley. They gave me the opportunity to focus primarily on business development, which is what I continue to enjoy doing for the Bank today.
Q: How would you describe the work you do?
A: As a business development manager, my job is to acquire, cultivate and retain business banking relationships for the Bank. The best part about my job is every day is different. Most of my day is spent visiting prospects and clients at their businesses. I spend time understanding how their business operates and how they handle the money that flows through their business.
